The wheels turned, the markers squeaked, the chalk dust flew — and this group churned out some really impressive work on their 2nd day of Fundamentals of Interactive-Visuals.
On Day 2 my aim is to really drill home what Graphic Facilitation is (as compared to Studio Work and Graphic Recording). No better way to do that than to demo … then invent various ways to experientially engage learners to ‘do it themselves’.
True Graphic Facilitation is holding the space to help your groups think effectively and CO-BUILDING visual displays of thinking, WITH your group (not just being off on the side silently following behind them taking visual notes). Its front and center. Its interactive. And its about PROCESS first … not art. Any visuals used are aids for guiding process and collecting (and reflecting) the info generated by the client.
The Process Professionals in the room work with a wide range of different client populations and content. From corporate consultants (leadership, strategy, teams, marketing, sales, pr) to not-for profit (disabilities, environmental), government (aboriginal, federal, municipal, military), to lawyers (divorce, mediation and intellectual property), planners (urban), energy & consciousness practitioners (BodyTalk, Reiki, etc), coaches (biz and life), counselors, and graphic designers. Whew … what unites them is their work with groups and their desire to more effectively communicate to and draw info from their stakeholders.
We had a mix of small and large size work. Plus a segment on documentation tips (photography and reports). Very full day which we topped off with drinks and dinner at local restaurant. We are gonna sleep soundly tonight!
A few pics of today’s journey …
JJ wants his darn ball thrown so gotta attend to my Yorkie. Signing off for tonight. Tomorrow, our final day, we cover Visual Coaching, Money, Marketing, Biz Development, Mindset … and some final personal planning on vision and next steps. Its gonna be fun and full. Sleep tight Visual Practitioners!
